Frisco Cruises Over Cardinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Springfield falls to the Frisco Riders on Saturday.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals came into their series against the top team in the Texas League South the Frisco Riders having lost four of their last five, but Friday they exploded for a 8-4 offensive victory to stop that streak. Saturday, they look for more of the same in game two.

Cards 25-29 coming into this one.

In the first inning Frisco's Tomas Telis singles to the outfield and Drew Robinson scores. It's 1-0 riders.

Same inning Odubel Herrara whacks this one to the same spot as Telis. That brings in Jake Smolinski. Frisco up 2-0.

Sam Gaviglio would fight back though gets this strike out and Ryan Rua takes a seat.

Frisco though wasn't done scoring in the first. Chris Grayson with the RBI single. Telis scores. Riders open up with a 3-0 lead to start.

And the Cardinals offense wasn't responding. Bottom of the second Patrick Wisdom hits into the inning ending double play. Score still 3-0 Riders.

Back to Gaviglio on the mound. He gets Teodoro Martinez striking out in the third.

Frisco wins it 9-1.
