Former Springfield Cards Helping St. Louis

A number of Springfield Cardinals are helping St. Louis in the playoffs.
The St. Louis Cardinals were back at Busch Stadium Tuesday afternoon for game three of their National League Division Series against Philadelphia.

The Cards looking for two wins in a row as the best of five series is tied at one.

KOLR 10's Nick Carboni is standing by live at Busch Stadium with more, Nick.

Thanks Dan.

The Cardinals had to make a magical run to this postseason...out of it by 10 and a half games in late August...

Helping them make the run are some very familiar faces.

Nine of 25 players on the roster for this series are guys who came up through Springfield including pitcher Jaime Garcia.

I caught up with some former Springfield Cards at BP.

"It's a lot of fun to get to the big leagues with guys you came through the minors with," said Cards third baseman Daniel Descalso. "We had success in the minor leagues and we built on that. It's been a lot of fun for us to come up here and contribute."

"It's pretty cool to be up here with guys like Jon Jay and Descalso, and Jaime and Boggs and Motte, a lot of guys who came up together through the system," said Cards Outfielder Allen Craig. "To be playing in important games in October is pretty special."

"It's been great," said Cards centerfielder Jon Jay. "A couple of us came up together and to be in these big spots together it's been awesome. We all support each other and we're looking forward to this game today."

"When I first got the news of coming to the Major Leauges, you know it kind of hit me a little bit, let me understand that all that work I put in back in Springfield, and Memphis, all of it paid off," said Cards Outfielder Adron Chambers.
