SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Red flag warning in effect from 11 am this morning to 6 pm this evening for strong southwest winds and low humidity for parts of southeast Kansas and west central and southwest Missouri.

Missouri counties impacted by these conditions include:
Vernon-St. Clair-Hickory-Barton-Cedar-Polk-Dallas-Jasper-Dade-Greene-Webster-Newton-Lawrence-Christian-Mcdonald-Barry-Stone

Overnight humidity recovery has been poor in  some areas overnight. Humidity values will fall to around 25 percent by early to mid afternoon.

High temperatures will range from the mid 60s to near 70 degrees by mid afternoon.

Recent grass fires in the area indicate that grassland areas are dry and cured and can easily catch fire. Strong winds today will cause any fires that start to grow rapidly and easily escape control.
