Families Learn to Stay Healthy During Cardiac Kids Night

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Families had a fun night learning how to stay healthy by staying active.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Families had a fun night learning how to stay healthy by staying active.

Friday night, CoxHealth hosted Kohl's Cardiac Kids Family Fun Night.

Children in kindergarten and older received a jump rope, step counter and a healthy snack.

The event taught families how to stay active and improve heart health.

Organizers want to focus on children while their young before they start bad habits.

"So what we are finding is that a lot of our young people are not as healthy as they could be,” says Lauren Holland, CoxHealth’s community educator. “So the Kohl's Cardiac Kids Program allows us the opportunity to give families simple tips on how to improve nutrition and activity."

The program is sponsored by the Kohl's Care Foundation and the event was free to attend.
