Evangel Slips Past Avila

The Crusaders beat Avila 83-81.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Evangel Crusaders went into Thursday night's game with Avila a little short handed.

Junior forward korry tillery was suspended from the game because he picked up two technicals in the crusaders loss to benedictine last saturday.

Evangel appealed twice for the suspension to be lifted, but no luck.

And J.J. Williams looking to pick up the slack, he slashes to the hole and gets the hoop and the harm, 11-10 Crusaders.

Avila playing tough defense, Tyler Smith forces the turnover, down the floor to Joseph Johnson for the layup and the Eagles led 18-16.

Remember Avila coached by former Missouri State Bear Rodney Perry.

Evangel heating up later, Zack Kleine with the pull up three pointer, the Crusaders were up 21-18.

Evangel's Caleb McGee beats the double team, and gets the ball to Kleine and he splashes another three pointer, 24-18.

And Evangel holds on and wins 83-81.
