ROGERS, AR - Arkansas' junior U.S. Senator is recovering from emergency heart surgery. Sen. John Boozman, 63, had the operation this morning, according to his office staff.

Sen. John Boozman, 63, had the operation this morning, according to his office staff.

The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal reports that Boozman was taken to the Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas emergency room by ambulance.

Boozman was scheduled to speak this morning in Gravette to commemorate the opening of the first stretch of the Bella Vista Bypass.

The journal says a source told them the surgery was uneventful and Boozman is expected to make a full recovery.

Boozman's office sent the following statement this morning:
U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) is undergoing surgery at an Arkansas hospital and is receiving excellent care.
