Election Day in Missouri - Several Area Issues

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Several issues will be decided today, and candidates chosen, in the April municipal elections in Missouri.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Several issues will be decided today, and candidates chosen, in the April municipal elections in Missouri.

Springfield voters will decide whether to repeal a sales tax that pays for the police and fire pension fund.

Five years ago the pension was $200 million dollars under funded. If voters want to keep the 3/4 cent tax they actually have to vote "no" on Tuesday, April 8.

Polls open at 6 am and close at 7 pm.

The Greene County Clerk gave advice on understanding the pension vote and says some residents will have a hard time voting because of closures.

"I think the people that vote...will be well informed people. There will be a lot of people who will try and vote tomorrow and won't be able to because we have ten of our polling places closed. I think if they just read the ballot, read the issue and pay close attention to the last two sentences they'll get it," Richard Struckhoff, Greene County Clerk said.
