Dramatic Increase in Missouri Traffic Crashes This Week

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- New numbers out today from the Missouri Highway Patrol give us a glimpse of the amount of recent weather related accidents across the state.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- New numbers out today from the Missouri Highway Patrol give us a glimpse of the amount of recent weather related accidents across the state.

Troopers say they work about 100 traffic crashes statewide every day.
But initial reports on February 4 and 5 troopers responded to 1,054 traffic crashes.

 96 of those resulted in injuries and two deaths.

Troopers say they answered 3,045 calls for assistance during those same two days.

Those calls included cars breaking down, sliding off the roadways or cars being left on the side of the road.
