UPDATE: Autopsy Results Released for Body Found at Wal-Mart

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Detectives from the Greene County Sheriff's office have released the autopsy results in the case of a 26-year-old man's body found in a vehicle in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
UPDATE:  SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Detectives from the Greene County Sheriff's office have released the autopsy results in the case of a 26-year-old man's body found in a vehicle in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

According to Greene County detectives, an autopsy performed Thursday on William Gabler confirmed no external injuries or trauma.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports to determine the cause of death and say the report could take several weeks.

No one is currently in custody in relation to Gabler's death.

The investigation continues to be ongoing.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Greene County Sheriff's Office has released additional information in regards to the investigation of a deceased man in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart located at 3520 W. Sunshine.

According to a news statement, police responded to the scene after a female called 911 about an unresponsive man in her vehicle.

When first responders arrived, they found 26-year-old William C. Gabler deceased in the vehicle.

A preliminary investigation led officers to believe that Gabler may have died at a residence in the 2300 block of S. Orchard Crest, outside of the Springfield City Limits.

Greene County Sheriff's Detectives are processing the scene and will continue to investigate the cause of death.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - UPDATE  Greene County Sheriff’s Office investigators are going to a location west of Springfield, in their probe of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Springfield today.

The man, who was being transported to Springfield for medical care by two acquaintances, died in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter on West Sunshine, according to sheriff’s department spokeswoman Deputy Debbie Ussery.

The pair called 911 en route to a Springfield hospital and was told to pull over and wait for emergency responders to meet them. An ambulance met them at the Walmart and performed CPR on the unresponsive man, but he died at the scene, she said.

Investigators examined the scene at Walmart and interviewed the two people who were bringing the man into Springfield, Ussery said.

A Springfield Police officer told KOLR10 that the sheriff’s investigators have since gone to a house west of Springfield to continue their investigation.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Detectives from the Greene County Sheriff's office are investigating the death of a man whose body is on the parking lot of a Walmart store.

Springfield police spokesperson Lisa Cox tells KOLR10 News officers from Springfield initially responded to the Walmart on West Sunshine near James River Freeway.

But Greene County investigators took over the scene because it is considered a "secondary" scene.  Cox did not elaborate.

Crime scene tape was put up around an SUV in the lot.

Greene County officials describe the death as of "unknown circumstances."
