SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Ever since the news broke of the abduction and murder of 10-year-old Hailey Owens, the community has had an outpouring of support.

There are a lot of different companies, community members and family members doing what they can to help the family during this tough time.

The folks at Culver's restaurants in Springfield are planning to donate a major portion of their sales this Monday, February 24, to the family.

Their two locations are at 1815 E. Primrose and 2520 N. Glenstone in Springfield.

Donation jars will also be set up for those who'd like to donate money to the family.

A friend of Hailey’s family is also running a Facebook page called Memorial Fund for Hailey Owens in Springfield, Mo.

K0LR10 has been in contact with the organizer and she say Empire Bank is helping, too.

In fact, any Empire Bank location will accept your donations to help Hailey’s family.

She says independent consultants for Scentsy and 31 are also volunteering to donate a portion of their proceeds to the family.

The Department of Health also contacted the KOLR10 newsroom Wednesday afternoon.

They are urging all of us to wear pink and purple on Friday in remembrance of Hailey.

Also to honor her, a candle march will take place this Saturday on historic C Street in Springfield at 8 p.m.

And a ride on Sunday will start at Pitbull Powersports at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post 639. The cost of the ride is $10 and $5 for other riders. Registration is 12-2 p.m.

The ride will end at Dennis' Place, where there will be food, auction items and more.

And according to a family friend, Hailey's funeral at Greenlawn Funeral Home will be covered 100 percent by the organization Missouri Crime Victims and the funeral home.  She says, any extra money collected from other donations will help Hailey's family greatly, as they may be out of work for awhile.

All the flowers for the service will also be donated as just another way the community is pulling together during this sad time.

To help with funeral expenses, local Applebee’s restaurants are selling paper ribbons in remembrance of Hailey. The ribbons will be placed in each of the restaurants in her memory.

The ribbons will be sold for a minimum $1 donation beginning Friday, Feb. 21, for one full week. Apple Central LLC, Applebee’s local franchise partner, will match the donations dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. All proceeds will be sent directly to the Owens family.

Guests can purchase ribbons at both of the Springfield Applebee’s locations as well as the Applebee’s in Nixa. The restaurant addresses are below:

  • 2430 N Glenstone Ave. Springfield, MO 65803
  • 1855 East Primrose Ave. Springfield, MO 65804
  • 412 N Old Wilderness Rd. Nixa, MO 65714
The Applebee’s restaurant at 1855 E. Primrose Ave. will also host a pancake breakfast fund-raiser from 7 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22. Admission is $5, and all proceeds will go to the Owens family.
