SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Over 10,000 runners are out showing their colors April 5 in the most colorful 5K race in Springfield.

Missouri State University will be hosting The Color Run 5K April 5. Runners took off from the starting line at 9 am Saturday morning in what is called the “happiest 5K on the planet.”

This just for fun race does not focus on time but rather color. Participants are pummeled with various colors of a mixture of paint and cornstarch and are encouraged to wear white.

All of the proceeds will benefit the Equi-Librium Therapy Center. The nonprofit offers horse-assisted therapy to children and adults with disabilities.

The Color Run was founded in January of 2012 as an event to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together.
