CLIMAX SPRINGS, Mo. -- Climax Springs High School received a $10,000 grant Thursday.

Midwest Technical Institute in Springfield presented the check to the school Thursday afternoon.

25 local schools were in the running for the grant. Each school then made a video expressing how they would benefit from $10,000.

One student who worked on the video said the competition brought the small community together.

"It was great especially being a small school,” says senior Dakota Mulins. “A lot of people thought, even though we have a good community but it's so small we wouldn't get the votes. We did it. Every day we would go on Facebook and share it. It almost felt like sharing it wasn't enough. We private messaged people to vote. Almost like a personal level."

The school plans on using the money for new bleachers and repairs on the gym.
