Chiefs First Round Ford

ST. JOSEPH, Mo--A look at Chiefs first round draft choice.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo--As our KC Blitz report continues the NFL season is here so players can throw away the stats that got them here. Take Chiefs Dee Ford for example, forget you're a first round draft pick cause the NFL just don't care. Now it's time to prove yourself in the league and that's exactly what ford plans to do.

It's always going to be a challenge at practice. This is the NFL. So every practice is challenging," said Dee Ford.

The once defensive end now outside linebacker understands what's expected from him.

"I think what they want to see from any rookie is maturity and growth from OTA's to minicamp to the break to now. They just want to see growth," said Ford.

And that's not the only thing they want to see. Ford's speed off the edge paired with Tamba Hali and Justin Houston, means bad news for opposing QB's.

"I think about it all the time. This is pass rush city," said Ford.

"At the end of the day we all remember what happened in that playoff game and that is what has got to carry us, the rookies the veterans that's got to carry all of us. I am starting to take pride in what the Chiefs organization have done with drafting guys that can get after the passer. Each year we are bringing in better guys and to put together a group what they are trying to do, coaches of all of us trying to get to that passer is just going to help our team," said Tamba Hali.

"I've seen him in minicamp and things like that. He has a real explosive first step. It's going to be nice watching him," said Junior Hemingway.

The rookie doesn't just come with quick feet, he's quick witted as well.

"I'm very excited, I can't wait to see them. I'm going to give them a big hug all of them from me."
