Chiefs Camp Wrapping Up

Kansas City Chiefs camp will have one more practice on Thursday in St. Joseph.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo--The Kansas City Chiefs will hold their last practice at training camp in St. Joseph Thursday morning.

In our KC Blitz report, the Chiefs are going to have their annual military appreciation day.

Soldiers from Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley, Kansas have been invited to training camp in St. Joe.

Then after the morning practice, they'll go out on the field for a post practice huddle.

As for the Chiefs themselves, the last couple of days are critical for position coaches evaluating talent.

They say the biggest need on the Chiefs is to have quality depth at all positions.

"The first thing you need to do is know this offense.  It's a very complicated deal," said receiver coach David Culley.  "For our quarterback and wide receiver, for our young guys its the toughest to be able to know what to do.  You have to be able to know what to do.  And the next thing is you have to be able to catch the ball.  That's the first thing you need to be able to do in this offense.."

"Anytime you have good players, guys who can rush the quarterback.  You have that skill set.  It's going to help you," said linebacker coach Garry Gibbs.  "Obviously this league they're throwing the football more and more.  So fresh people who can go in there and make a play for you is critical."
