CBS Sports: Chiefs to Hire Andy Reid as New Coach

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Andy Reid, who spent the previous 14 seasons with the Eagles, reached an agreement to be the Chiefs' new coach, CBSSports.com NFL Insiders Mike Freeman and Jason La Canfora say.
The writing was on the wall when the Chiefs announced Friday morning that they had parted ways with general manager Scott Pioli. A short time later, Andy Reid, who spent the previous 14 seasons with the Eagles, reached an agreement to be the Chiefs' new coach, CBSSports.com NFL Insiders Mike Freeman and Jason La Canfora confirmed.

There were reports that Reid wanted to bring former Browns and Eagles executive Tom Heckert with him to Kansas City, which likely hastened Pioli's departure.

Reid had a 130-93-1 record in Philadelphia, including a 10-9 playoff record and a Super Bowl appearance after the 2004 season. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are coming off a two-win season and have finished above .500 just once in six years. They've had three coaches and three quarterbacks in that time, and it's reasonable to think Reid will bring in quarterback No. 4 for the 2013 season.

The team is expected to make an official announcement later Friday.
