Catholic Christens New Gym With Win

The Springfield Catholic Lady Irish beat Fair Grove in the first game at Catholic's new gym.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Springfield Catholic unveiled its brand new athletic facility Thursday night.

The Lady Irish hosting Fair Grove in the new gym that seats 2,000 for hoops.

It's the O'Reilly Family Athletic Center and is part of a $12.9 million dollar addition at Springfield Catholic.

And the first basket in the new facility goes to Catholic's Sarah Posey, the freshman with a three pointer to put the Lady Irish in front.

But the rest of the quarter belonged to Fair Grove the skip pass to Kelli Oplotnik for the jump hook, 6-5 Eagles in front.

Then Fair Grove looks inside, Taylor Davis to Shania Hawley for the basket it's 8-5.

The Eagles going around the horn to Davis for the three, it was 13-7 Fair Grove.

But Catholic rallies late to win 57-48.
