Springfield blasts 3 homers in route to a 6-5 victory.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals continued their series with Corpus Christi Thursday night at Hammons Field.

Springfield pitcher Mike Mayers was making his home debut after joining the Cardinals last week from Palm Beach.

Mayers is still looking for his first AA victory.

Big crowd on hand, 7-thousand plus for a ring give away.

And it was 2-nothing Hooks in the second and they wanted more, Jio Mier chops this to third, Patrick Wisdom throws home to get Delino Deshields at the plate.

Still 2-nothing.

We'll pass along a little more Wisdom.

Bottom of the second a man on for Wisdom, he takes this deep to center, over the Bud Sign and gone, a two run shot it's 2-2.

Springfield trying to get more in that second, David Popkins with this fly ball to center, but he's robbed by the Hooks Andrew Aplin.

More Cardinals offense in the third, Aledmys Diaz doubles to right center, Mike O'Neill scores it's 3-2 Springfield.

Later in the third, Jonathan Rodriguez hammers this shot to center, it sneaks over the boards, one of his two homers on the night, it's 5-2.

And Springfield holds off a late Corpus Christi rally to win 6-5.
