Chris the Critic from the Missouri Film Alliance joins us once again to dish on the latest and greatest box office hits and must-see movies.

NEW THIS WEEK:
THE PURGE: ANARCHY - A couple are driving home to their kids when their car runs out of gas just as the annual Purge commences.  Also, a man goes into the streets to get revenge on the man who killed his son and a mother and daughter run from their home after assailants destroy it.  These five people meet up as they attempt to survive the night in Los Angeles.  The first PURGE released in June of last year with a rather low budget did rather well at the box office and was surprisingly original.  I’m excited for this one.
SEX TAPE -  Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz are a married couple who wake up to discover a “tape” they made the evening before has gone missing - THEN - a frantic  search begins.  GREAT casting of Rob Lowe based on his past experience with “tapes!”
SO EXCITED THIS IS IN SPRINGFIELD!!!  BEGIN AGAIN -  A chance encounter between a disgraced music-business executive and a young singer-songwriter new to Manhattan turns into a promising collaboration between the two talents.  The super talented Mark Ruffalo & Keira Knightley star along with Maroon 5’s Adam Levine!

TOPS AT THE BOX OFFICE:
DAWN OF PLANET OF THE APES - debuted at #1 with a stellar $73-million!!!  This film is quite good.  Amazing special effects … too amazing at times.  Andy Serkis, who is back as Caesar the ape, is incredible.  I DO believe the Academy voters for the Oscars needs to really think long and hard about his performance in this film.  There is such a massive amount of work done JUST with his eyes!  If you didn’t know Serkis is also GOLLUM in the LORD OF THE RINGS series of films.

NEW ON DVD:
RIO 2 - For kiddos & big kiddos … It's a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they're hurtled from Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon.
