Bolivar Man Found Guilty of Sodomy, Child Molestation

BOLIVAR, Mo. – A Bolivar man was found guilty on child sex crimes with a victim under the age of 14 during a jury trial Tuesday.
BOLIVAR, Mo. – A Bolivar man was found guilty on child sex crimes with a victim under the age of 14 during a jury trial Tuesday.

Ira A. Strawn, 37, of Bolivar was found guilty of first-degree statutory sodomy and first- degree child molestation during the two-day trial, according to Polk County Prosecuting Attorney Kenneth R. Ashlock.

According to Ashlock, the victim was interviewed by police at Springfield’s Child Advocacy Center and evidence showed Strawn had committed the grimes over a period of time in 2013.

Strawn has been in the Polk County Jail since July 23, 2013 and returned to the jail to await sentencing on Oct. 6, 2014.

First-degree statutory sodomy carries a minimum punishment of 10 years and up to a life in prison. First-degree child molestation carries a minimum punishment of five years and up to 15 years in prison.
