Body Found Near Crabtree Cove Identified, FBI Calls Death Suspicious

STOCKTON LAKE, Mo. – The body of a man found in the Crabtree Cove area of Stockton Lake has been identified and the FBI is calling his death suspicious.
STOCKTON LAKE, Mo. – The body of a man found in the Crabtree Cove area of Stockton Lake has been identified and the FBI is calling his death suspicious.

According to a statement from the FBI, the body has been identified as Michael Scott Algiere, 26, of Springfield.

Two hikers found Algiere’s body on the afternoon of Sunday, July 27, near an old fishing dock that the Army Corps of Engineers shut down a few years ago.

The FBI says Algiere was dead at least 48 hours prior to the discovery and the circumstances behind his death are being considered as suspicious.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to call the FBI in Springfield at 417-882-3303.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI with assistance from the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office; Missouri Highway Patrol; Springfield, Missouri Police Department, and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
