SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Lasers tennis team held their season opener Sunday against the Philadelphia Freedoms with plenty of good and bad headlines. The bad, Saturday Jean-Julien Rojer announced he will be out for the season with a back injury. The good, Billie Jean King was in attendance for the opener.

The tennis legend won 39 grand slam titles in her career and now is the Mylan World Team Tennis Co-Founder as well as the Owner of the Freedoms.

She also says she's pleased with the growth of the sport in Springfield.

"It's because of the community you guys are coming out and supporting the team. That's what makes a difference over the years it's kept growing and growing and growing. This isn't just about Tennis, this is about community, this is about getting behind your team," said Billie Jean King.

And now to the match, here's the men's doubles. It's Michael Russell and Ross Hutchins taking on Frank Dancevic and Marcelo Melo. Great volley back and fourth and Hutchins puts it away with the forehand for the point.

The Lasers men's doubles get the win 5-3.

In the women's doubles it's Lasers Taylor Townsend and Liezel Huber against Olga Govortsova and Anna Lena Groenefeld. Springfield's Townsend takes the points off the serve
