BRANSON, Mo--It was a legendary day at Big Cedar Lodge in Branson.

"The longest runinng Tournament on the Champions Tour, the Legends of golf will be played at the Big Cedar Lodge and it will be known as the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of golf presented by Bass Pro Shops," said PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem.

The competition will be split between a Par 3 at Top of the Rock and this 18-hole course formerly known as Branson Creek. Which will be renamed to Buffalo Ridge. And believe it or not there will be a herd of live buffalo.

"Leave it to missourians and Johnny Morris to make it possible to play a round of golf, hit a ball into a buffalo herd," said Governor Jay Nixon.

The PGA Tournament will tee off June 2nd through the 8th, with numerous non-golf events.

"We are also going to have some fishing competetions and shooting competitions," said Bass Pro Shops CEO, Johnny Morris.

And the actual golfing will have a different spin as well.

"We are going to play a scramble format and then an alternate shot and we play a best ball. So there are three different formats and that's unique. It has never been done in a professional event, this is a first," said Legends golfer, Tom Watson.

It's also the first time a PGA sanctioned event will be played on a Par 3 course.

Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, and Gary Player will be some of the golfers joining Watson.

Mastercard joins Bass Pro as a major sponsor allowing for a 2.75 million dollar purse. Making it this year's richest stop on the Champions Tour.

"It will be a lot of fun for the whole week for everybody," said Watson.

It's a 5-year contract between Big Cedar and the PGA with procedes benefiting the College of the Ozarks.

"Will be used to construct a Vietnam Memorial Park at the entrance of the College of the Ozarks," said College of the Ozarks President, Dr. Jerry Davis.
