MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – A 34-year-old man whose last known address was Yellville, Ark., is being sought today by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a disturbance and assault in the Buford community early Sunday.

A warrant was being sought on Monday for Michael David Hamilton, but he has not been formally charged, according to the Baxter County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a call about 3 a.m. Sunday on County Road 1073 after a neighbor reported a disturbance.

They found the electricity at the house had been cut off and a woman was found locked in a bathroom. Evidence of a fight or altercation was apparent and the electric meter had been damaged, according to a news release from the sheriff.

The woman told deputies what there were five people staying at the residence including a house guest who she said awakened her to say the power was off and then attacked her with a metal pipe before she took refuge in the bathroom.

She said the man also attacked the three others in house, two of whom escaped and ran into the woods. The third was able to drive his vehicle to the residents of the neighbor who called 911.

That victim was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home by ambulance and others went to the hospital by private vehicle, the release said.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is searching for the man, whose foot prints in the snow led to a roadway where the trail stopped. The sheriff also suspects he is involved in the nearby theft of a 2007 Red Dodge SQ3 four-door flat-bed truck with a chrome brush guard and a diamond tool box. The license on that vehicle is 376NHF.

Anyone who sees the truck or has information about the disturbance is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (870) 425-7000.

The incident remains under active investigation and additional charges may be filed in connection with the fact that a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia were found inside the house, the sheriff said.
