Bart the Barred Owl Visits KOLR10 Daybreak

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The animals at Dickerson Park Zoo are all settled in for winter, with many animals in their heated barns for the season. Others, like those native to Missouri and colder climates, are out on display through the winter months.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The animals at Dickerson Park Zoo are all settled in for winter, with many animals in their heated barns for the season.  Others, like those native to Missouri and colder climates, are out on display through the winter months.

Dickerson Park Zoo spokesperson Melinda Arnold stopped by KOLR10 Daybreak with one of those year-round Missouri residents, Bart, the Barred owl.   Barred owls are one of 4 types of owls that live in Missouri all year long.

The Zoo is also highlighting it's annual Gift Shop Sale, going on now through Christmas Eve.  Members of Friends of the Zoo get 20% off gift shop items, others receive 10% off.
Also, Friends of the Zoo memberships are for sale now for 2014 - they make great Christmas gifts.

The Zoo has been closed the past week because of the winter storm, and will remain closed until all ice and snow is removed from walkways through the Zoo.  Arnold says an announcement will be made when the Zoo is open to visitors again.
