Arkansas Resident Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident

RIPLEY COUNTY, Mo. – An Arkansas woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash on US 160 at Rt. JJ just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
RIPLEY COUNTY, Mo. – An Arkansas woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash on US 160 at Rt. JJ just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 78-year-old Van Buren man turned into the path of a Hummer, causing the Hummer to strike the Cherokee.

The passenger in the Cherokee, Patricia D. Emberton, 51, of Alpena, Arkansas, was pronounced dead at the scene just after noon.

The driver of the Cherokee suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Hummer was uninjured.

This is Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E’s 34th fatality for the year.
