Community Yoga Event Sunday Will Usher in the Fall

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- About 200 people are expected to gather on Springfield's Park Central Square Sunday, for a community yoga event to welcome in the fall season.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- About 200 people are expected to gather on Springfield's Park Central Square Sunday, for a community yoga event to welcome in the fall season.

It is called the Fall Equinox Yoga Mala and is being repeated in communities around the world. 

Beth Spindler of Teach to Inspire Yoga  and Nichole Brown of the YMCA explain what this mass yoga exercise is all about and how it will benefit local children who attend the YMCA programs.    Watch the video above to see a demonstration of the Sun Salutation pose that will be repeated through the event.

The Yoga Mala is a series of 108 sun salutations with four breaks. The event will start at 4 pm and is free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $15 to benefit the Downtown YMCA Strong Kids Financial Assistance Program.

Chants will be provided by Y instructor, Rod Buckner, and Beth Spindler of Teach to Inspire. Drumming will be provided by Eric Rousseau.
Please bring your own yoga equipment. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Downtown Y.
