LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – If you are planning on boating this weekend on the Lake of the Ozarks, citizens are asked to keep a watchful eye out for kayakers who are participating in the 2 Dam Days International Flatwater Championship.
According to a press release, the kayaks will be seen from the 90 to the 34.5 mile mark on Saturday and from the 34.5 to the zero mile mark on Sunday.
Boaters are urged to travel as slow as possible on the opposite side of the lake when passing smaller vessels and to go idle speed when kayaks are near.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and 40 safety boats will accompany the paddlers in a concerted safety effort.
The 2 Dam Days Extreme 90 is a 90-mile marathon that will test the physical limits of athletes. As of Thursday, more than 50 competitors, including Olympic champions from around the world and even a former Kansas City Royals pitcher, have registered for the race.
