Carpenter to Retire

Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter will retire.
ST. LOUIS, Mo--It wasn't all happy news at Busch Stadium this afternoon. Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak also announced that pitcher Chris Carpenter will officially retire.
The 38-year old has been plagued with a nerve condition in his throwing shoulder that has ended his career.
Remember he tried to make a come back in July, pitching one game at Hammons Field for the Springfield Cardinals. But the numbness returned to his pitching arm, and he knew his career was over.

In 9 seasons in St. Louis, Carpenter won 95 games and the 2005 Cy Young award.

The Cards offered him a front office job.
