The St. Louis Cardinals trade David Freese to Los Angeles.
ST. LOUIS, Mo--St. Louis native and 2011 World Series hero David Freese has been shipped to the west coast.

The St. Louis Cardinals traded David Freese to the Los Angeles Angels for centerfielder Peter Bourjos.

Also included in the deal is Cards pitcher Fernando Salas going to the Angels.

LA is sending minor league outfielder Randal Grichuk back to the Cardinals.

David Freese played his high school baseball at Lafayette in the St. Louis suburbs.

The Padres traded him to the Cardinals in 2007 for Jim Edmonds.

He had a career season in 2011 capped off by his clutch extra inning homer in game six of the World Series against the Rangers.

Freese won the World Series MVP that year.

Last season the 30-year old hit only .262 with nine homers.

Bourjos is a speedy outfielder who hit .274 with three homers in only 55 big league games.
