BRANSON, Mo. -- Booker Cox, Jr., who died at Cox Hospital late Sunday, was a prominent realtor and pillar of the Branson area business community.

Cox was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Tri-Lakes board of realtors. He and one of his two sons, Booker Cox III, worked together at Foggy River realty.

Cox sold properties in Branson and Arkansas for more than 30 years, according to his biography on the Foggy River Realty website.

His biography also notes that Cox enjoyed fishing, hiking and exploring the outdoors. He also had a pilot license and flew small engine planes.

Cox was married to his wife, Carolyn for nearly 50 years. He is survived by another son, Todd.

Ross Summers, the president of the Branson Area Chamber of Commerce, said Cox will be missed by his colleagues in the business community.

"We're going to miss him a lot. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends," Summers said. "He moved a lot of real estate in more than 30 years here in town. He never met anybody he didn't like and certainly he'll be greatly missed, both from a professional and personal standpoint."
