If your weekend plans include a trip to your local theater, you've got a lot of choices of what to see. And our friend Chris the Critic with the Missouri Film Alliance to help us make that choice.  Tom Hanks is back on the big screen with a movie based on a real life drama.

NEW AT THE BOX OFFICE THIS WEEK -
CAPTAIN PHILLIPS - The true story of Captain Richard Phillips at the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates … the first American ship to be hijacked in 200 years.
MACHETE KILLS - The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space.  These movies are wild and VERY violent.  Crazy full of stars, this time even Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga and the list goes on.

TOPS AT THE BOX OFFICE THIS LAST WEEK -
#1 - GRAVITY  *AMAZING, suspenseful … you need to grab oxygen for yourself.  Be listening up for Sandra Bullock come awards season.
#2 - CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2
& debuting at #3 - RUNNER RUNNER  *Sort of predictable, but, I still enjoyed it
NEW ON DVD THIS WEEK-
THE HANGOVER PART III - The boys are back in Vegas with all sorts of shenanigans!

AFTER EARTH - Disappointing turn from M. Night Shyamalan starring Will Smith and his son Jaden.

Finally, THE PURGE!  This is a very low budget thriller with an awesome premise about home invasions of sorts and VERY worth a rental!
