SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – People in Springfield were bowling for dollars Monday night during the Bud-Bair’s Charity Tournament League at Battlefield Lanes.

The tournament benefits five local charities. Monday night was the first of five rounds, with each a seven-week long round..

The unique aspect of this tournament is that each team competing sponsors a charity.

“They are not just bowling for themselves, they are bowling for charity,” says JR Huyck, president of the league. “It’s on their backs. The charities are here, even people who benefit from their charities are here to cheer them on as is the businesses.”

KOLR10’s Rob Evans was there to help host the event. The taping of the competition will broadcast on our sister station on KOZL in a few weeks.
