Bolognese Sauce

This rich pasta sauce is made healthier, especially when you serve it over spaghetti squash.
1# Italian or pork sausage
1 large onion, chopped
½ cup carrot, finely chopped
½ cup red sweet pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
28 oz. crushed tomatoes
1 6-oz. can tomato paste
½ cup dry red wine or beef broth
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon marjoram
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
¼ cup whipping cream

1.    In a skillet, cook sausage, onion, carrot, sweet pepper, garlic over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is tender.  Spoon into crockpot.
2.    Add tomatoes, tomato paste, wine (or broth), herbs, salt and black pepper into meat mixture.  Turn crockpot to low.  Cooke for 6-8 hours. 
3.    Add whipping cream just before serving. 
4.    Serve over pasta or spaghetti squash.
