Barr to Run for Circuit Clerk

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The filing period for county candidates in the 2014 elections isn't until early next year. But one Springfield businessman is already committing to a race.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The filing period for county candidates in the 2014 elections isn't until early next year.  But one Springfield businessman is already commiting to a race.

Thomas Barr, who owned Ozarks Mailing Services for nearly three decades, announced Wednesday he plans to run for the Republican nomination for Greene County Circuit Clerk.

Current clerk Steve Helms has already announced he plans to run for Greene County Presiding Commissioner next year.

In addition to business and civic involvement, Barr was one of three finalists for an open City Council seat last February.  Mike Carroll was eventually appointed to that seat.
