AURORA, Mo. --  Police officers in Aurora continued an investigation Saturday into the double shooting of a man and woman in front of a Price Cutter supermarket.

The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Detectives said Luke Scammell and Raven Thornton have been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and the unlawful use of a firearm.

Johnny Ferguson and Kelsey Gunter were walking across the grocery store's parking lot when the shooters drove up and opened fire, according to an arrest affidavit.

Ferguson was shot in his side and Gunter was hit in her thigh. The two were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Aurora Police Department investigators have not said whether the shooters had a specific motive. It's also unclear whether the victims knew the suspects.

Multiple shots were fired in the shooting and some of the bullets hit an occupied building nearby. No one else was injured.
