MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – Five felony criminal charges have been filed against a missing Baxter County man accused of kidnapping and assaulting his wife before she managed to escape from him during an encounter with law enforcement officers on Tuesday.
Baxter County Prosecutor Ron Kincade has filed charges of Aggravated Residential Burglary, Kidnapping, Battery in the Second Degree, Terroristic Threatening and Fleeing from an Officer against Robert Finch, 29, according to a release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s office.
A bench warrant for Finch’s arrest specifies a bond of $250,000 when he is arrested.
His wife, Delores Finch, escaped from him Monday morning after the car the couple was riding in was spotted by a deputy in the Calamity Beach Recreation Area of Lake Norfork near the Missouri state line.
Finch reportedly saw the deputy’s vehicle approaching and tried to back away in his auto, eventually high-centered and stopped. Delores Finch escaped at this time and fled for safety toward the deputy, Montgomery said. Robert Finch fled into a wooded area and had not been located as of Wednesday morning.
Delores Finch was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
Sheriff’s investigators are continuing to make contact with family and associates of Finch in an effort to learn his whereabouts, Montgomery said, and to follow up on leads reported by the public.
