GREENE COUNTY, Mo. -- Just last week a charge of abandoning a corpse was dropped against Anthony Balbirnie, today he's facing murder and rape charges.

Balbirnie was looking at a trial last week before charges were dropped. Now, a special prosecutor from the Missouri attorney general's office has filed new charges against him in the murder of 15 year Khighla Parks.

Parks' body was found ten days after she disappeared from her home, weighed down and submerged in Truman Lake.

In early October 2012 the Benton County prosecutor charged Balbirnie with abandonment of a corpse, now he's also charged with Statuatory Rape.

According to court documents, parks died of asphyxiation while having sex with Balbirnie.

Anthony Balbirnie is currently in a Missouri prison in Bowling Green. He is serving a seven-year sentence on a parole violation stemming from the charges in this case.
