(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Los Angeles is campaigning for mandatory use of condoms in adult films countywide.

Foundation president Michael Weinstein says they'll start gathering signatures for a voter initiative because L.A.County has failed to act.

He says the county has come up with all kinds of excuses for not doing what it needs to do.

Weinstein alleges that because the films contain sexual content, politicians are unwilling to do what it takes to protect performers.

Weinstein says a mandatory condom use in porn initiative was just approved for a city of L.A. election although it's being opposed by City Attorney Carmen Trutanich.
