30th T of C Bracket Set

The 2014 Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions bracket is set.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo--For three decades some of the best high school basketball players in the country have descended on Springfield for the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this event, tournament director Mark Fisher has put together quiet possibly the toughest field to date.

Fisher met with the media, school officials and coaches Friday to set the bracket for the T of C which tips off Thursday, January 16th with championship night on the 18th.

Included in the field three of the top five ranked high school teams in the nation including Montverde Academy out of Florida which is number one.

Paul VI from Fairfax, Virginia won last year's T of C and will take on Willard in the opening round.

Willard and Kickapoo are the two local schools in the field.

"When the opportunity came for us to say whether or not we wanted to be in it, it was kind of a no brainer for us to say yes," said Willard coach Lamont Frazier.  "Just because of the talent.  For us to have an opportunity to play in a field like this will definitely tell us the things we need to do in the future moving forward."

"A lot of times teams will come in from out of the area and there's an awe factor of playing in front of 8 or 9,000," said T of C director Mark Frazier.  "But most of these teams have played in front and been here.  They're going to be ready to strap it on and get after it on the 16th."

The Tigers and Paul VI tip at 5:00 p.m. on the 16th, followed by White Station from Memphis against Wesleyan Christian from North Carolina at 6:30 p.m.

Kickapoo will take on Christ the King from New York city at 8:00 p.m.

And the late game has Montverde Academy against Village Christian from California at 9:30 p.m.
