JUPITER, Fla--The St. Louis Cardinals entire 40 man roster was required to be in camp Tuesday in Jupiter, Florida.

But that was just a formality, most of the position players have been in camp since last week.

The attention is always on pitching in the early weeks of training camp.

And the Cardinals are stocked with winning arms, led by veteran Adam Wainwright.

Wainwright won 19 games last season tied for first in the National League.

But this will his first full season without his mentor Chris Carpenter.

And Wainwright says make no mistake he's the teams ace.

"Here's what I told these guys last year.   And I'm going to tell them again this year," said Adam Wainwright. "I'm not going anywhere.  If you want this top spot you have to come and get it.  And if you take it.  Then it means we're going to be really, really good.  Because I plan on pitching the same way I have for years and years to come..."
