Let's talk Mizzou basketball. It's really no surprise that Frank Haith fled to Tulsa, he really didn't seem to be a good fit in Columbia.
The question is, who takes Frank's place? As a Mizzou alum, and as a reporter who's covered Missouri Valley basketball for a quarter century, it's hard for me to say this.
But Mizzou Athletics Director Mike Alden should hire Gregg Marshall. I know it's almost sacrilege, here in Springfield. We know all about Wichita State's Gregg Marshall.
Gregg can be cantankerous with the media. Gregg can be irritating to opposing fans. Gregg has no lack of self-confidence, and oh yeah, he can win.
174 wins in seven years in Wichita. He's the 2014 National Coach of the Year, and took the Shockers to a final four. And as of Monday, Gregg Marshall's agent says he hasn't heard from Alden or anyone representing Mizzou?
What's the deal? Pick up the phone. In order to get Marshall, Alden's going to have to pony up some big-time bucks. Maybe even close to $2 million dollars a season. In my opinion, Marshall's worth it.
