Springfield Wins Second Straight From Hooks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals wrapped up their series with Corpus Christi Friday night at Hammons Field.

The Cards looking for their second straight victory over the Houston Astros Double AA affiliate.

And another good crowd on hand.

Corpus Christi's Andrew Aplin hitting into bad luck, Springfield's Jonathan Corneilus starts the old 1-6-3 double play.

The Cardinals strike in the bottom of the first, Mike O'Neill at third, and Cody Stanley drives this deep to center, deep enough for a sacrafice fly, it's 1-nothing Springfield.

The Cards had two on in the third, but the Hooks Michael Hauschild gets out of trouble by striking out Jonathan Rodriguez swinging.

Rodriguez flashes the leather in the fourth, Alpin with the line drive to first, Rodriguez turns the 3-6 double play.

Springfield adds to its lead in the bottom half, Matt Williams singles past third into left, Patrick Wisdom and Starlin Rodriguez both score it's 3-nothing Cardinals.

And Springfield wins its second straight 6-2.
