Springfield Tops Frisco In 11

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals continued their second to last homestand of the season Wednesday night at Hammons Field.

In town, the Frisco RoughRiders.

Frisco won the first half in the south, and lead in the second half by a game.

Springfield has won 5 of the 11 games played so far against Frisco, but the Cards have dropped three of the last four.

But Springfield flashing the leather early, top of the first and David Popkins robs Guilder Rodriguez of a base hit with this sliding catch.

Then not to be outdone, Cards right fielder Rafael Ortega bounces off the boards in right to rob Jorge Alfaro of extra bases.

Then Kurt Heyer would end the first by striking out Joey Gallo on this nasty curve, it's scoreless after one.

Frisco's Jerad Eickhoff throwing b-b's as well, he strikes out Charlie Tilson with the breaking ball.

Scarey moment in the fifth when Normar Mazara's single bounces off the grass into Breyvic Valera's face, he's o-k.

Springfield scores in the bottom half, Popkins singles to right, Patrick Wisdom scores it's 1-nothing.

Frisco tied it up at one, but Springfield wins on a 11th inning homer from Curt Smith, Cards win 2-1.
