Springfield Shuts Out Naturals 1-Nothing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Springfield Cardinals pitcher Marco Gonzales has been added to the Texas League North All-Star team.

Gonzales is 1-2 in five starts since being called up in mid-May.

Springfield now has six All-Stars going to Little Rock June 24th.

Meanwhile, the Springfield Cards opened a four game series with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

And it was a pitcher's duel for the second straight night at Hammons, Jonathan Cornelius strikes out Juan Graterol swinging in the first.

The Naturals J.C. Sulbaran just as hot, he gets Matt Williams swining in the first.

Cornelius gets Jared Schlayuber looking to end the second.

Sulbaran throwing b-b's down goes James Ramsey swinging.

The Naturals trying to get something going in the fourth, but Cornelius gets the double play, sweet scoop by Williams to start the 6-4-3 twin killing.

Springfield loads the bases in the bottom half, but Jacob Wilson grounds out to third to end the inning.

But Springfield goes onto win 1-nothing.
