Springfield Shuts Out Drillers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals wrapped up a seven game homestand Wednesday night against Tulsa.

The Cards trying to take the series against the Drillers and get their third win in the last four games.

And Tulsa was looking to get out of town with a victory as well.

Springfield's Sam Gaviglio throwing b-b's, he gets Chris O'Dowd looking to end the second.

The Cardinals would get on the board in the bottom of the second, Alex Mejia loops this into left, Rafael Ortega scores it's 1-nothing Springfield.

Then Travis Tartamella follows with a single to right that scores Matt Williams and it's 2-nothing Cardinals.

Gaviglio keeping the Drillers in line, here he gets Joey Wong looking at strike three to end the fourth. 

Springfield adds to its lead in the fifth, Mike O'Neill's at third, and Curt Smith lifts this fly ball to center, deep enough to score O'Neill, 3-nothing Cardinals.

Smith also belted a grand slam and Springfield shuts out Tulsa 10-0.
