Springfield Drops Ninth Straight Game

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals returned home to Hammons Field Wednesday night to open a long 12 day, 13 game homestand.

It starts with a double header against Arkansas.

Springfield's Oscar Mercado, Alex Mejia, Dakota Hudson, Matt Pearce and Jack Flaherty were named to the Texas League All-Star game.

In the opening game, Springfield had the bases loaded with one out in the first but Anthony Garcia lines out to second, over to short for a double play to end the inning.

Springfield's Austin Gomber throwing b-b's early he strikes out Tyler Marlette to end the fourth.

Arkansas strikes in the fifth, Adam Law singles to left, that scores Keury de la Cruz and Kyle Petty and it's 2-nothing Travs.

Next batter is Ian Miller and he takes this deep to right center, over the boards and gone a two run shot, it's 4-nothing Travs.

And Arkansas wins game one 9-nothing.

In the nightcap Arkansas wins 5-3, Springfield has lost nine in a row.
