KANSAS CITY, Mo--The Kansas City Royals with their home opener against the Chicago White Sox Friday.

A very cold home opener but the bats were lively early in this one. Jose Abreu pops one to foul territory but deep enough for Adam Eaton to tag up and score on the play. White Sox up to an early 1-0 lead on Jeremy Guthrie.

The Royals would come right back though. Bottom of the first. Alex Gordon absolutely crushes this one just misses a grand slam but he'll settle for the bases clearing double. Three runs come home and it's 3-1 Royals.

KC back for more in the bottom of the fifth Lorenzo Cain up to bat and he hits it hard up the middle the ball off the glove of a diving second basemen. Two runs score on the play.

And the Royals go on to win it 7-5. Kansas City improves to 1-2 and host Chicago again Saturday. KC's Bruce Chen the probable starter.
