SPRINGFIELD, Mo--Missouri State centerfielder Tate Mathney will represent the United States next month when USA baseball takes on the world.

In our Bear Nation report, Matheny is one of 24 college players who will go to the Netherlands and Cuba next month.

Team USA is being coach by Arkansas' Dave Van Horn.

The team will train in North Carolina before heading to the Netherlands in mid-July for a tournament.

On the way back to the states, the team will play a tournament in Cuba.

Matheny hit .330 with ten homers for the Bears this past season.

He's the sixth Missouri State Bear to be named to a Team USA roster.

ST. LOUIS, Mo--Oscar Taveras is back in the big leagues.

And St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak hopes the slugger can electrify the anemic Cardinals offense.

The move comes on an off day of St. Louis' current west coast road trip.

So far the Cardinals are 3-4 on the swing.

Taveras just turned 22 years old and is hitting .318 with eight homers and 49 RBI at Triple AAA Memphis.

He played right field in 10 of his 11 games for St. Louis earlier this season but hit only .189 with a homer and two runs batted in.

He spent 2012 in Springfield winning the Texas League player of the year honor.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals wrapped up their week-long homestand with a double header Monday at Hammons Field.

The double dip is needed because Saturday night's game with San Antonio was rained out.

And this is San Antonio's last regular season game in Springfield this year.

Wind blowing out at Hammons, and the batters took advantage.

It's 1-0 Missions in the first when Rymer Liriano takes this deep to center, way over the fence and gone a two run shot and it's 3-nothing San Antonio.

Springfield answers in the bottom half, Aledmys Diaz hammers this shot to left, over the outfield and off the bullpen fence, that puts runners at second and third.

And Patrick Wisdom makes them pay, this blast goes over the bullpen, a three run shot and we're tied at three.

Springfield moves in front in the bottom of the second, Mike O'Neill slaps this single to left, Starlin Rodriguez motors around third, play at the plate and he's safe, 4-3 Cardinals.

Then Cody Stanley singles to right, O'Neill scores it's 5-3.

But San Antonio wins game one 7-6 in ten, and the Missions take the nightcap 6-3.
