SPRINGFIELD, Mo--The Springfield Cardinals close out their three game series against the Frisco Rough Riders with a rubber match Sunday.

Cards looking to take the series against the Texas League South's top team.

In the first Tomas Telis grounds out to short. That brings in Guilder Rodriguez for the one to nothing Riders lead.

In the third Rodriguez hits it to a diving Patrick Widsom, who makes the tremendous out.

To the bottom of the third. The Cards Jonathon Rodriguez gets ball four to bring in Matt Williams. And it's tied at 1.

Still in the third. Curt Smith hits it off the short stops glove. Both Jacob Wilson and Cody Stanley score. And it's 3-1 Cards.

Riders Jake Smolinski would get a run back in the fourth as he blasts a solo home run.

Cards hold on to win 3-2 and take the series.


In the Major Leagues, the St. Louis Cardinals are shut out by San Francisco, 8-0.

And in the American League, the Kansas City Royals take Toronto, 4-0.
