Rookies, quarterbacks and players coming back for injury took the field Monday. Veterans will report later in the week. Some of the players coming back from injury are second year tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Kyle Williams.
Also practicing on the grid-iron was starting quarterback Alex Smith, back up Chase Daniel, second year QB Tyler Bray and rookie Aaron Murray.
"It was tough that because I couldn't be out there with the team. The fact that we went 9-0 the first nine games, it was easier than if we were losing. But at the same time I'm a guy who just wants to go out there and compete. So it was pretty tough for me," said tight end Travis Kelce.
"It's weird being the oldest guy with Alex, we are the two oldest guys out here. So, trying to take a leadership role and just improve each and everyday. I thought it was a good day out here today. Getting better, getting in the swing of things, getting our drops down and we just need to keep improving," said quarterback Chase Daniel.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo--As our KC Blitz coverage continues, obviously there's plenty of excitement around the start of camp.
It's a chance for players to showcase their talent and a chance for players to feel like college freshman again.
Here's a look at the rookies arriving Sunday at St. Joesph.
The players reporting for work and ready to check into the the Missouri Western State University dorms.
While this trip is strictly business some of the rookies are finding the fun in their new living accommodations.
I am different than your average rookie. Give me a keyboard and an iPad and I'm good. I can have fun off of anything. It don't take much for me. I love myself," said Dee Ford.
"It has been awhile since I have been in a dorm but it's not too bad at all. Good thing is, I guess we won't have roommates. You don't have to worry about if your roommate snores or not, or getting into your food. But it's going to be fun. I am excited to be here. First camp, I know all the rookies are extremely excited and anxious to see what exactly is going to happen," said Aaron Murray.
